[Press Release 2021.06.21] New Mobility Method "Zero Travel" Experimented in Kumano during the Decarbonization Era

Using Small EVs and IT Technology to Achieve Zero Carbon Dioxide Emissions During Travel

Recently, Zenmov Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, CEO: Kiyoshi Tanaka) and Koza MORI Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kushimoto, Wakayama, CEO: Naoya Sakamoto) jointly conducted a social validation of the "Zero Travel" service, which aims to achieve zero CO2 emissions from electric vehicles (EVs) during transit, in Kushimoto. This validation experiment started on May 19 at the Kushimoto Bridge Rock Station and was conducted over a period of ten days until May 28.

"Zero Travel" is an initiative that utilizes blockchain technology to allocate environmental value generated from solar power at a remote location in real-time to EVs in operation, thereby completely eliminating carbon dioxide emissions while driving the EV.

During the validation experiment in Kushimoto, our company provided the vehicle body and management system, while Koza MORI Co., Ltd. managed its operation as a company car. Through this ten-day initiative, we successfully reduced CO2 by 48.46 kg.

Zenmov Co., Ltd. also participated in the "Zero Travel" validation project in March 2021. Utilizing fuel cell vehicles (FCVs), we confirmed a reduction of 14 kg of CO emissions during a round trip of 200 km between Yokohama City and Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture. In this initiative as well, the real-time driving measurement of the FCV was facilitated by SMOC (Smart Mobility Operation Cloud) provided by Zenmov Co., Ltd. Zenmov Co., Ltd. and Koza MORI Co., Ltd. promote "Zero Travel," aiming to make all travel zero-emission by utilizing this complete zero-emission driving system. Wakayama Prefecture, which won the sustainability category in the Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2021 readers' poll among famous global tourist destinations, can be said to be an iconic place that should lead the way in promoting "Zero Travel" as a new tourism infrastructure in the decarbonization era. We will continue to pursue carbon-free mobility solutions in the region.
