In the early 2000s, I set out to become a scuba diving instructor, traveling to various locations to dive. I was captivated by the soda-blue waters of the Philippines, though the urban areas at the time were still struggling. When I returned years later, I was astonished by how dramatically the country had developed. Metro Manila areas like Makati looked almost indistinguishable from Tokyo in places, and the energy and vitality were striking.

　While the Philippine economy has been growing at 6–7% annually, the everyday transportation options for ordinary people remain largely unchanged — jeepneys and tricycles still dominate, and there is virtually no scheduled public transit as we know it in Japan. I believe that by building and providing reliable, scheduled public transportation — the kind where you can simply wait and a bus or train will come — adapted to local conditions, we can meaningfully improve the lives of people in these communities.

　Looking at ASEAN as a whole, it is a market of nearly 700 million people facing similar transportation challenges. Through our work connecting Japan and ASEAN, Zenmov aims to be a company that is genuinely useful to many people. We also hope that through Zenmov's business, we can offer motivated Japanese businesspeople and engineers a place to challenge themselves and gain new experiences.
