Introduction of the Philippines' First Autonomous EV Bus

Introduction of the Philippines' First Autonomous EV Bus by GAUSSIN MACNICA MOBILITY

Leading company in autonomous EV buses, GAUSSIN MACNICA MOBILITY, in collaboration with the Japanese company Zenmov, which has strengths in advanced MaaS (Mobility as a Service), announces the joint deployment of the Philippines' first autonomous EV bus. GAUSSIN MACNICA MOBILITY will provide autonomous vehicles to Zenmov. Zenmov will utilize GAUSSIN MACNICA MOBILITY’s autonomous vehicles in the Philippines' smart city project and will implement a unique public transportation vehicle management system.

Zenmov operates in the MaaS business domain. It is focused on creating a transportation network that allows users to travel securely by smoothly connecting and optimizing public transportation in areas with inadequate public transport infrastructure.

GAUSSIN MACNICA MOBILITY is developing autonomous, zero-emission mobility for the transport of people and goods, providing optimum solutions for short- to medium-distance travel such as the autonomous EV buses “ARMA” and “EVO,” and the “BlueBus 6m” EV bus developed in collaboration with the Bolore Group. Additionally, with its extensive knowledge and experience, it offers support programs for the implementation and operation of autonomous transportation, comprehensively assisting the practical use of autonomous driving.

Project Responsible for Sustainable Mobility Development in the Philippines

This project, conducted on Luzon Island in the Philippines, marks the introduction of the first autonomous vehicles in the country, aimed at reducing environmental burdens and traffic congestion, and contributing to the long-term development of related areas.

Specifically, it will introduce a new public transportation service called “Primary Rapid Transit (PRT)” that excels in convenience and energy efficiency for last-mile connectivity. The core of this service is Zenmov's cloud-based traffic management system, “Smart Mobility Operation Cloud (SMOC).”

Zenmov’s cloud-based traffic management system, SMOC, maximizes the operational rate while minimizing the number of vehicles in operation through driver/passenger/administrator applications and server-side functions. This system can be used not only for shared transport like buses but also for personal use such as hire cars and on-demand taxis.

On May 30, 2023, Zenmov visited France and announced its cooperation with Gaussin-Macnica-Mobility for the project in the Philippines. The operation of autonomous vehicles in the Philippines is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. Currently, stakeholders are continuing discussions and preparations to deploy clean and safe services in the Philippines' smart cities.
