We have started the Zenmov e-drive car-sharing service

Begins at UNPLAN Village Hakuba in the Hakuba area of Nagano Prefecture

At the hostel "UNPLAN Village Hakuba" (https://unplan.jp/hakuba) located in the foot of the Hakuba Mountains in Nagano Prefecture, we are conducting a test service of our car-sharing service "Zenmov e-drive" (scheduled to run until the end of October this year). UNPLAN Village is a mountain resort located in Tsugaike, where you can enjoy trekking in spring and summer, and winter sports in the winter.

Feature: Complete the rental from booking to return using your smartphone

I think many people rent cars when traveling. After arriving at your destination, you go to the rental car shop, do the paperwork... the shop can be crowded during high season. It can be tough to have your limited schedule taken up by procedures and waiting at the shop.

With Zenmov e-drive, everything from booking the car to payment, boarding, and returning is completed solely with your smartphone, so there is no need to go to a store for procedures. You might wonder, "Just with a smartphone? How do I get the keys?"

Key pickup and return at Keycafe

After reserving the car, you will perform the operation "Pick up the key at Keycafe" on your smartphone. Keycafe is a 24-hour unattended key management system (pickup and return) with a box installed in the lounge of UNPLAN Village. You generate an access code on your smartphone, and when you enter it into the box containing the keys, you can pick up the keys. When returning, you enter the access code, place the keys in the box, and lock it (Figure 2).

In this way, you can perform car sharing on your smartphone anytime, 24 hours a day, through the steps: ① Car reservation, ② Picking up the keys at Keycafe, ③ Boarding, ④ Returning the car, ⑤ Returning the keys at Keycafe, ⑥ Completing the return... Additionally, the vehicle available for reservation is the BMW EV i3. It is also recommended for those who want to try driving an EV (Figure 3).
