Started at Hostel UNPLAN Village Hakuba in Hakuba area, Nagano, Japan
We are now conducting a test service of our car sharing service “Zenmov e-drive” at “UNPLAN Village Hakuba” (https://unplan.jp/hakuba), a hostel located at the foot of Mount Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture. (The period is scheduled to last until the end of October this year.)
UNPLAN Village is located in Tsugaike Kogen, a mountain resort where you can enjoy trekking in spring and summer and winter sports in winter.
“Complete from reservation to return with a smartphone”
You often rent a car when you are traveling. When you arrive at your destination, you have to go to a car rental store and go through the formalities…. In high season, the rental shops are crowded… With a limited schedule, it is difficult to wait at the store and go through all the procedures.
With Zenmov e-drive, everything from reserving a car to payment, boarding, and return can be completed only with a smartphone, eliminating the need to go to a store to complete the procedures. Only a smartphone? What about receiving the keys?” You may be asking yourself, “How do I receive the keys?
Receive and return keys at “Keycafe”
To receive keys, after reserving a car, use your smartphone to operate “Keycafe to Receive Keys” Keycafe is a 24-hour unattended key management (receiving and returning keys) system, with a box located in the UNPLAN Village lounge. You can receive your key by issuing an access code with your smartphone and entering it into the box containing your key. When returning the car, the access code is also entered and the key is locked in the box (Figure 2).
In this way, the features and convenience of Zenmov e-drive are that car sharing can be done whenever you want, 24 hours a day, on your smartphone: (1) reserve a car, (2) pick up the key at Keycafe, (3) get in, (4) return the car, (5) return the key at Keycafe, (6) complete return, and so on. The vehicle that can be reserved is the BMW i3 (i3) EV, which is also recommended for those who want to try driving an EV (Fig. 3).
